Prompt 10: Most states allow people to get a driver’s license at the age of 16. Some people feel that 16 is much too young for the responsibility that comes with driving a car and teenagers should not be allowed to drive until the age of 18. In your opinion, at what age should people be allowed to drive, and why?
Isn’t Six-teen Old enough
In many states the age 16 is the age in which you are allowed to obtain your drivers license. Yet many people ague against this. The believe that 16 is too young to take on the responsibility of driving. In my opinion, this is a grate age to get your drivers license. When your 16 your most likely are in the third year of high school, an 11th graded, a Jr. This is one the busiest years of high school. These days 16 year olds are responsible for a lot already, a car would help them.
Most high 16 years old in high school has a very busy life. Some have to take care of their younger brothers and sisters. Parents are busier then ever these days and count on the oldest in the house to do a lot. If the sixteen year old is the oldest, than a car could help out a lot. If they have their license, they can help their parents out by taking their siblings to school, going to get the groceries and much more. There are also those who have parent that can’t drive. For example, I know a young girl whose name will remain unsaid. Her mother can not drive, because of a heart decide she has, and her father cant see very well. She takes care of her sibling as her parents work. She cooks, keeps the house clean and helps her siblings with any schoolwork they might need helps in. This is a lot to do. Almost as much as an adult has to do. If they can be responsible for this much, then why can’t they be responsible for a car? A car in which can help not only them but their families as well.
Why are 16 year old responsible enough to get their drivers license. With the way society is today, teens grow up and mature faster than needed to. This is the time in their life when they start to make life long decisions. The time when they stat to make final decisions on what they want to do in life. A car is just another responsibility they will soon get anyway.
